What Does Off Track Mean?
Your garage door runs along two vertical tracks on either side of the opening, transitioning to horizontal tracks that run back along the ceiling. The door is held in the tracks by a series of rollers attached to hinges along the door sides. When a roller jumps out of the track, or the track itself bends or breaks, the door loses its guided path and becomes unstable.
An off-track door may still open partially, move unevenly, scrape against the track, or simply refuse to move. In some cases the door will appear to hang crookedly in the opening. All of these are signs the door needs professional attention before it is operated again.
Common Causes
